Diamond Bank’s 2013 long service awards cum end-of-year party dubbed 'Black & Diamonds Party' which held at the Landmark Event Center on Friday, 13 December 2013.

The event with the theme Black & Diamonds was spurred out of the need to celebrate Diamond Bank' s outstanding performance this year and members of staff who had put in a minimum of 10 years in the service of the Bank. 

      Anchored by leading comedian Bovi, the audience was taken through a delightful event as they enjoyed the best of choice wines and cuisine even as Bovi ensured that the guests, made up of Diamond Bank staff, their spouses and customers, were in stitches as he dished out rib cracking jokes continuously.

Highlights of the party included the long service awards where various members of staff who had put in 10 and 20 years in the employ of the Bank, were presented with their awards by the Bank’s Group Managing Director/CEO, Dr. Alex Otti. Dr. Otti commended the awards recipients for their service and loyalty to theDiamond brand and wished them many more fruitful years in their banking careers.

The Black & Diamonds party was not devoid of the usual hitches associated with events of this magnitude. Olamide stepped on stage to deliver what would be described as a disappointing performance which came across as unprepared and unrehearsed. Hip-hop sensation Davido, helped to salvage the situation however by dishing out various songs from his rich repertoire, crowning it with his recent street anthem, Skelewu.

Strangely Basket mouth who was billed to perform at the party showed unprofessionalism  by not making it to the event. Innocent ‘Tuface’ Idibia brought the event to magnificent climax at around 1am, when he mounted the stage and dished out hit track after hit track to the admiration of the guests. As at 3am when this reporter left Landmark Event Centre, Oniru the crowd was still dancing to various club tracks delivered by the DJ. 

Though several bank’s hosted their end-of-year parties at the same time, we believe that Diamond Bank’s was the best of them all.

She is Dr. Dame Chief (Mrs). Patience Fakabelema Jonathan (nee Oba). Her middle name is FAKABELEMA, often shortened to Faka, meaning ‘Unending Blessings’. Abiyamo is giving special thanks to George Desmond Iyo of Okrika for his thorough explanation of her roots and name. She is the President of the African First Ladies Peace Mission, and that is why I like calling her the Dame of Africa.

Okay, calm down, not what you are thinking. Dame Patience Jonathan was born in Port Harcourt on the 25th October 1957 while the don himself was born on 20th November, 1957. Ok, just like a month. By the way, what that means is that her birthday is fast approaching as she will be turning 56 this month.

Shocking News, hardened criminal says that the bible instructed him to pay tithes after every robbery operation

A 24-year old armed robbery suspect, Mr. Tajudeen Onifara has revealed the secret behind his success in the underworld for nine years during which he robbed many people of their money and other possessions.
He confessed to the police that he was dutifully paying his tithe to his church, Christ Living Ministry, Lagos Island, as commanded in the Bible after every successful robbery operation in Lagos, western Nigeria.
Onifara was arrested in a hotel with his girlfriend by men of the anti-robbery squad of the state police command after nine years of robbing people.
The father of two said he paid his tithe regularly because he believed that as a Christian God always bless a faithful tither.

He disclosed that after every successful operation, he would remove 10 percent of the money he stole from people and pay as tithe to church.
Onifara attributed his success in crime for nine years to the fact that he paid his tithe regularly as commanded by God in Malachi chapter 3 verse 10 and 11. The verses, he said, mandated Christians to give 10 percent of their earnings as tithe to the church.
He said he started stealing at the age of 15 and specialised in robbing customers of banks with locally made cut-to-size pistol before he graduated to a big time armed robber.

He said his major breakthrough in the underworld occurred when he robbed a woman who withdrew N2m from a bank in Lagos.
He said she was about entering her car when he accosted her and pointed a toy gun at her. The woman quickly surrendered the money to him.

Queen Bey surprised her fans by secretly dropping a new album on iTunes last night December 12th. The self titled album is Beyonce's 5th solo album and features 31 tracks, 14 of which are new songs.

In the new album, Beyonce collaborated with Jay Z, Drake, Justin Timberlake, Kelly Rowland....and featured our very Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie on a track titled Flawless. Jonathan Remains PDP's Candidate For 2015 Elections - Tukur

The national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Bamanga Tukur has declared that President Goodluck Jonathan is the party’s presidential candidate in 2015 general elections. Bamanga Tukur disclosed this during the inauguration of National PDP Councillors’ Forum in Abuja. He further told the party faithful not to be deterred by people leaving for other parties saying that even if they leave the PDP the party remains. He further maintained that PDP remains the strongest and biggest party in Nigeria and Africa insisting that the party is insurmountable.

He said, “Don’t be deterred by some people saying they are leaving the party. People leaving the party are individuals not the party. It doesn’t mean if they leave the party the party leaves. No, the party remains. PDP is the only party in Nigeria that fields a candidate in every election that is held. Don’t be deterred; don’t be afraid, you are part of the ruling party.”

He further tasked the councillors on the role they have to play in making sure that Jonathan wins the 2015 election.

At Uruguay, The South American country is set to become the no 1 country in the world to allow its citizens to grow, sell, buy and smoke marijuana. The country's Senate began its final debate on the issue today Tuesday Dec. 10th and claim they want to legalize it in a bid to take the business from criminals.

If this bill, which has the support of majority of the House and the president of the country, is passed, Uruguay will be the first country to legalize a trade that is illegal everywhere else in the world.

Excessive coverage of Mandela's death, BBC receives 1,350 complaints

Mail, more than 1,000 viewers have complained about 'excessive' coverage of Nelson Mandela's death on BBC services, including some who grumbled about a repeat of popular sitcom Mrs Brown's Boys being interrupted.
By today the corporation had received 1,350 complaints about too much coverage across its news services, with some saying the emphasis had reduced the coverage of severe weather across the UK that day.
Programme chiefs broke into a repeat of BBC1 sitcom Mrs Brown's Boys to break the news.

The BBC defended its coverage and said Mandela's death was of 'considerable interest' to audiences in the UK and across the rest of the world.

Nigeria Footballer Omeruo Pays Tribute To Essien

Nigeria defender Kenneth Omeruo has highlighted Michael Essien's role in helping him settle down at English Premier League Chelsea.

A bride narrowly escaped death in an auto crash while on her way from her wedding. The accident involving a NNPC  tanker with number plate XG 321 MKA, a cargo truck and two saloon cars happened at about 4: 45pm on Saturday, close to the Otedola bridge, Alausa, on Lagos/Ibadan Expressway.

Eye witness who witnessed  the accident said the NNPC truck, while descending the slop from Alausa at top speed, could not hold its break. It then ran into the first car and squashed the second one against the cargo truck.The bride and her husband were said to have jumped out of their car.
